Studio Chocolate is Nottingham’s answer to Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory (minus the chocolate river). Their expert chocolatiers combine art with chocolate to create confectionery that looks as amazing as it tastes, from hand-painted collections to truffle brownies and decadent cupcakes. My all-time favourite doughnuts. Doughnotts have a varied and creative menu, including a doughnut inspired by the Cookie Monster and another decorated with party ring biscuits. As we have all reassured our boyfriends or husbands on frequent occasions, size isn’t everything, but when it comes to doughnuts, the bigger the better! Doughnotts’ creations are twice the size of any doughnut you will find on supermarket shelves. They are running a click & collect service, as well as delivery within a 5.5 mile radius of NG2 via Deliveroo.

I am lucky enough to live near the ‘OG’ Cod’s Scallops, which opened in Wollaton nine years ago. The company has since expanded with restaurants in Carrington and Long Eaton, bringing the authentic taste of seaside chips to Nottingham locals. They also serve an impressive selection of fish, ranging from traditional battered cod and haddock to scallops (the clue is in the name after all), sword fish and even lobster. Pro tip: make sure you request batter bits with your chips – you will not regret it!

The best pizza place in Hockley and another restaurant that’s a great choice for vegans. Oscar and Rosie’s pride themselves on using restaurant-grade ingredients in their pizzas. Alongside their standard pizza menu, they offer a variety of pizzas suitable for vegans, vegetarians and gluten-free diets. They are well-known for their pizza, but it’s their delightfully crispy yet gooey mac ‘n’ cheese dishes I can’t get enough of, so don’t forget to order a side when you click & collect.

Perfect for: baked goods and brunch

Located in Sherwood with its trademark yellow door, Crimson Tree is the only place to go for freshly baked goods. They sell different types of bread and pastries galore: scones, croissants, brioche buns, Chelsea buns and (my personal favourite) cinnamon swirls. Pre-pandemic, I loved stopping off at Crimson Tree for brunch before an afternoon of bargain hunting in Sherwood’s charity shops. and thankfully several of their tastiest brunch dishes are still available for click & collect.

Perfect for: a Sunday roast with all the trimmings

The Wollaton Pub & Kitchen and Larwood & Voce are sister pubs, owned by the Moleface Pub Company. One is in Wollaton and one in West Bridgford (no prizes for guessing which is where) but both do an unbeatable Sunday roast, which tastes even better when paired with a side of their creamy leak and cauliflower cheese bake. Your order also wouldn’t be complete without one of their mouth-wateringly fudgey creme egg brownies. As well as Sunday dinners, you can click & collect fish and chips or burgers on Fridays.
