Believe it or not, we are now three months into the corona virus pandemic in the UK. That’s three months of social distancing and working from home for many of us, and almost three months without our favourite pubs, cafes and restaurants.
Since closing their doors at the end of March, food and drink businesses have had to adapt to survive and now more than ever it is important for us to support small and independent businesses by shopping locally.
With many businesses offering click & collect service, it’s easy to bring a touch of the dining experience to your own home. Just because we can’t dine out, doesn’t mean you have to miss out. Why not plan a special date night in with your partner or invite your friends over for a socially distanced lunch in the garden?
Whoever you decide to share your treats with, these 10 Nottingham businesses are guaranteed to deliver quality food you will love.

Perfect for: treating yourself or someone else
Studio Chocolate is Nottingham’s answer to Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory (minus the chocolate river). Their expert chocolatiers combine art with chocolate to create confectionery that looks as amazing as it tastes, from hand-painted collections to truffle brownies and decadent cupcakes. In addition to click & collect, Studio Chocolate is operating a delivery service throughout Nottingham.
Chef Louisa Ellis

Perfect for: special occasions or those times you just feel like being a little bit fancy
This week is the third week in a row that I have placed an order with Chef Louisa Ellis. Yes, her food really is that good. Each week Louisa puts together a unique three-course set menu, featuring high quality food made from local produce. As a finalist of the hit TV culinary show MasterChef, it will come as no surprise that Louisa is fully booked every week, so make sure you’re quick to place your order! The new menu is released every Monday at 7pm.

Perfect for: pandemic snacking (in the name of self-care, of course!) and vegan options
My all-time favourite doughnuts. Doughnotts have a varied and creative menu, including a doughnut inspired by the Cookie Monster and another decorated with party ring biscuits. As we have all reassured our boyfriends or husbands on frequent occasions, size isn’t everything, but when it comes to doughnuts, the bigger the better! Doughnotts’ creations are twice the size of any doughnut you will find on supermarket shelves. They are running a click & collect service, as well as delivery within a 5.5 mile radius of NG2 via Deliveroo.
The Cod’s Scallops

Perfect for: fish ‘n’ chip Fridays
I am lucky enough to live near the ‘OG’ Cod’s Scallops, which opened in Wollaton nine years ago. The company has since expanded with restaurants in Carrington and Long Eaton, bringing the authentic taste of seaside chips to Nottingham locals. They also serve an impressive selection of fish, ranging from traditional battered cod and haddock to scallops (the clue is in the name after all), sword fish and even lobster. Pro tip: make sure you request batter bits with your chips – you will not regret it!
Annie’s Burger Shack

Perfect for: breakfast, lunch or dinner!
Locally acclaimed Annie’s Burger Shack serves the best burgers in Nottingham, hands down. Every burger on their extensive menu has a vegan or vegetarian option and they are currently offering nine of their most popular burgers to customers through their click & collect service. Don’t miss out on their American-style breakfast food either; choose from french toast, breakfast burritos, pancakes and all-american waffles!
The Pudding Pantry

Perfect for: afternoon tea and cake
My go-to for sweet treats. As anyone who knows me will tell you, I’m something of a cake connoisseur, so when I say that The Pudding Pantry make the best cake I have ever tasted (vegan biscoff), you can trust that I know what I’m talking about! Their fabulous afternoon tea for two package is available through click & collect, along with a variety of cakes, brunch options and loaded pancakes.
Clean Cut Kitchen

Perfect for: healthy food
Thanks to Clean Cut Kitchen, you can avoid cooking dinner and still enjoy healthy, nutritious food. They are currently offering great value meal prep plans to help people stay on track with their health and fitness goals and have recently announced on Instagram that their standard menu will be available for click & collect and delivery via Deliveroo any day now. I highly recommend their healthy version of the classic full English breakfast, their protein balls for a sweet fix and every smoothie on the menu!
Oscar & Rosie’s

Perfect for: pizza and mac ‘n’ cheese
The best pizza place in Hockley and another restaurant that’s a great choice for vegans. Oscar and Rosie’s pride themselves on using restaurant-grade ingredients in their pizzas. Alongside their standard pizza menu, they offer a variety of pizzas suitable for vegans, vegetarians and gluten-free diets. They are well-known for their pizza, but it’s their delightfully crispy yet gooey mac ‘n’ cheese dishes I can’t get enough of, so don’t forget to order a side when you click & collect.
Images by Crimson Tree
Perfect for: baked goods and brunch
Located in Sherwood with its trademark yellow door, Crimson Tree is the only place to go for freshly baked goods. They sell different types of bread and pastries galore: scones, croissants, brioche buns, Chelsea buns and (my personal favourite) cinnamon swirls. Pre-pandemic, I loved stopping off at Crimson Tree for brunch before an afternoon of bargain hunting in Sherwood’s charity shops. and thankfully several of their tastiest brunch dishes are still available for click & collect.
The Wollaton Pub & Kitchen and Larwood & Voce
Images by The Wollaton Pub and Kitchen
Perfect for: a Sunday roast with all the trimmings
The Wollaton Pub & Kitchen and Larwood & Voce are sister pubs, owned by the Moleface Pub Company. One is in Wollaton and one in West Bridgford (no prizes for guessing which is where) but both do an unbeatable Sunday roast, which tastes even better when paired with a side of their creamy leak and cauliflower cheese bake. Your order also wouldn’t be complete without one of their mouth-wateringly fudgey creme egg brownies. As well as Sunday dinners, you can click & collect fish and chips or burgers on Fridays.

So there you have it! My top ten click & collects by independent businesses across Nottingham. Who will you be ordering from first?
If you aren’t a Nottingham resident, you can still hop onto Google and find out which of your favourite local food & drink businesses are operating click & collect or delivery services. And if you just can’t resist the sound of the delicious food mentioned above, you could always do a Dominic Cummings and take a road trip to Nottingham! After all, Specsavers is still closed and how else can you be expected to check your eye sight?
